Maintenance service schedule
When you purchase your RV from RVWholesalers, you become a part of our RV family. We want your RV to give you years of enjoyment. The below tips to Maintain your RV we hope will assist you to give you years of enjoyment. We are always available to assist you.
Most importantly, you should consult the manufacturer of your RV to assure proper maintenance of you Unit.
Here is a general list of what you should look for to preserve your RV and avoid expensive repairs
Monthly
Check your generator. Check fluids and run it for 1 hours at 50% load.
Check your batteries for charging and holding a charge.
If your RV is a driveable, check your fluids, hoses, belts. Run your engine if it is not being used.
Air conditioner. Clean vents and filter.
Furnace. Cycle to make sure it ignites and cycles
Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Replace as needed
Inspect tires. Uneven wear, tire pressure, lug nut torque, unit weight distribution. Having a tire pressure monitoring system is a great tool to prevent damage to your RV and safer travel.
Slide out maintenance. Inspect, clean and lubricate your slide out per manufacturer specification. Inspect slide out roof.
Seasonally spring and/or fall
Deep clean your rv. This allows you to do a thorough inspection. If you discover something that is not obvious it can usually be addressed before it becomes a major repair.
Change and clean water filter/canister. See Winterization tab for more information.
Lubricate metal. Steps, leveling jacks, stabilizing jacks, tongue jack, hitch
Winterize replace anode rod if needed. See the winterization tab for more information.
Inspection of damage or voids insects/animals can get in. block access points.
Clean and inspect appliances per manufacturers instructions. Any appliances that has out side access, check for damage, insect and animal nests (remove) and clean areas. Test to make sure all appliances are functional.
Roof inspection. Inspecting, repairing and maintaining your roof is essential to prevent leaks. Ensure all seals are not cracked and do not have voids. Check membrane for tears or holes.
Sides of unit inspection. Inspecting, repairing and maintaining the sides of your unit is essential to preventing leaks. Look for any voids in the sealant. Add sealant, or remove and replace as needed.
Propane system. Check your propane tanks for damage, rust and the date of manufacture. Check all hoses, pipes and fittings. It is recommend that the system is tested annually for leaks by a qualified technician annually.
Air conditioning. Check under the roof shroud for animal nests, bent fins and evidence of leaks.
Tire, Braking system and wheel bearings. See manufacturer for proper intervals to maintain. For drivable RVs, any component that is a part of the chassis should be services by the manufacturer of that chassis. See the chassis owners manual or contact the chassis manufacturer.
Once a year replace smoke/carbon monoxide detector batteries. Some have sealed batteries. See the manufacturer of the unit to determine the expiration date
RVWholesalers has the following recommended maintenance.
Wheel bearings. Add grease at 5,000 miles, repack/replace bearings at 15,000 miles.
Inspect the sides of your RV every time you transport it. seals can separate from all of the twisting and turning of your RV. Add sealant as necessary. Check slide out seals and the overall condition of the unit.
Inspect the roof every time you transport it. you never know if you hit a low tree branch or damage from other debris. A quick inspection can prevent a ruined trip with usually a simple temporary repair.
Lubricate all locks on your RV often.
